Tweet, Tweet - Kindergartners are Tweeting!

Twitter is another of many communication resources available to us in our world.  Over the course of the school year, Mrs. Hoyt and Mrs. Parnell (kindergarten room 101)hope to tweet with our classes in an effort to connect our students with other learners around the world.  As we learn about other cultures, other parts of the world and different topics we hope to gain a greater perspective of the world. We hope we are able to tweet and communicate with many other individuals and classrooms around the world and be able to share whatever we are learning at school.

Kindergarten students were read the book Nana in the City by Lauren Castillo when they visited the library this week.  Then they were invited to ask questions of the author!  Ms. Small, our librarian tweeted the questions out and hopes to have responses when students return to the library next week!  This is part of Pine Glen's participation in the Global Read Aloud being held October 3 - November 11.

While at the library students brainstormed questions to ask the author, Lauren Castillo.

Ms. Small recorded students ideas on her computer and then tweeted the questions.

To introduce Twitter we brought the students outside to listen to the birds communicate with each other. The students said the birds chirped or tweeted.

Next, both classes went to room 101 and teachers showed students the tweets sent out announcing that we were going to have a classroom Twitter accounts. We showed the students Mrs. Parnell's tweet deck and the students were surprised about how many different people communicate on twitter and were listed on her tweet deck!

After our introductory tweets, people have already responded! Thank you for your support. If you would like to communicate with us on Twitter you can find us @MrsHoytsKSs. Please follow and tweet with us!

Listening to the birds tweet.

Watching and listening to the birds in the tree and birdhouse.

Seeing the tweet deck and writing our first tweet!

We are on Twitter now!

Looking at the tweet deck. There are so many things to see.
