Wishing the Faces of Room 103 a Great Summer

We had a wonderful year in room 103 and are so lucky to have spent this time with our kindergarten friends. Mrs. Hoyt and Ms. Bennett  know all our friends are going to do great in first grade.  Over the summer we will be working hard to prepare for next year, reading and relaxing with our families.  We encourage all of you to rest, relax, play and read all summer too!  Remember we encourage our students to keep a journal over the summer!

Time to send these funny faces off to summer break!

We would LOVE to read about all of our (now former) students summer adventures.  If students submit a post about activities or a great book they are reading, we will share it on the summer blog.  If you complete one at least once a week every week (at least 10 entries!) of the summer a PRIZE will be earned!  Prize recipients will be visited in their first grade classroom on the first day of school.   We hope we will be reading LOTS of summer entries!

Water Day Fun!

Wow, we had a wonderful time at our water day!

Friends were in the pools, played catch with frisbees, drew with chalk or shaving cream, and created lots of art projects.  The sprinkler and the water balloons were the highlight for many.

Fun Day at Pine Glen

We had a really fun day at Pine Glen!

Students earned so many Hoot Cards for being appropriate, safe and kind that we were rewarded with a dunk tank day.

Mr. Lyons spent the day in the dunk tank.  Other teachers volunteered to be the "target" of the dunk throughout the day.  ELL teacher, Mr. Lord and Librarian, Ms. Carney were on the bench for the kindergarten crew.  Quite a few students hit the target and sent the teachers into the water!

We also participated in relay races and parachute fun.

Our friends in room 102 joined us for the exciting activities!

Our day ended with guest readers!

5th graders, Jack and Zach stopped in to read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

This was a special treat as the 5th graders are Pine Glen Kindergarten Alumnae and one is a student's big brother!

First Grade Teachers Read To Us!

On Thursday we enjoyed books with both Mrs. Bourgeois and Ms. Mills some of Pine Glen's first grade teachers.  Both teachers heard just how much we enjoy reading and wanted to share some of their favorite stories with us.

Mrs. Bourgeois invited us into her first grade classroom to listen to the story with her students.  Following the story we were invited to ask her current students about first grade.  It was a fun was to see a future classroom and to gain some insight into what it will be like.  Then we participated in a Shake Break!  Everyone had a great time dancing together!

Both Ms. Mills and Mrs. Bourgeois shared books with a common theme!  It is important to try your best and not give up!

Mrs. Bourgeois read the story, The Most Magnificent Thing and Ms. Mills read Giraffes Can't Dance.  Both were terrific stories to listen to.  Be sure to check our summer reading blog for additional book recommendations as we head into summer!
