Mrs. Kerr and her daughter have been taking great care of the chicks over the weekend. They report that all are doing well, are noisy and developing little personalities!

Hunger Heroes to the Rescue!
Our Read-a-thon will continue for 1 more week! We are reading in our classrooms. Kindergartners and 4th grade friends should be reading at home every day. Global Citizens are reading each day as part of our Read to Feed fundraiser!
Reading Log Kept through April 5th.
Funds collected and returned to school by April 10th.
Reading Buddies
Today we hosted another Reading Buddies event. We welcomed moms, dads, grandmothers, and other teachers. Each found a quiet spot in the room and read with a small group. As an added bonus, students in room 103 offered to do some of the reading! With only 2 reading sessions planned for the remaining of the school year we hope to have even more guests! Our goal will be to have 1 partner for each student by May! If you would like to join us at either our April 26 or May 31 be sure to let Mrs. Hoyt know!
So Cute You Want To Scoop Them Up!
The baby chicks are so cute, everyone just wants to scoop them up! The are growing quickly! The chicks are eating well, keeping us company with their chirping and are quite active!
We have a room full of proud "parents"! Everyone had the opportunity to hold a chick on his/her lap this afternoon! The chicks are fragile but our kindergartners were very gentle.

Eggciting News
Our incubator was set up with 8 eggs......5 have hatched so far!
We have learned about the parts of the egg. Ask your student to explain what they see in this picture of the empty shells......

It's a girl, and a girl, and a girl and a girl and.....a boy! 5 of our 8 chicks have hatched today! We are very excited!

Learning About Chicks
Ms. Pavlicek visited Pine Glen and presented about the life cycle of chicks. To introduce us to the topic she taught us about the largest ever and smallest ever eggs.
Ms. P. showed us all the different parts of the egg and talked to us about the life cycle of a chicken.
We got to meet one of Ms. P.'s chickens from her coop at her house, and Quinn from Room 103 pretended to be the hen and then she sat on her clutch of 10 eggs!
The students are very excited about the chicken eggs coming to our classroom on Monday, March 25th! The eggs should start hatching on Thursday, March 28th (this will be about the 21st day of incubation).
