Busy Days

 Room 103 has had a super busy week.  We said goodbye to a classmate and welcomed a new one.  On Thursday we welcomed a surprised visit from district Literacy director, Renee Sacco.  She was super impressed with how well everyone wrote and how confidently they spoke and shared their writing.    We have been gardening and tending our new planted seeks, have been writing and have been exploring shapes.  Our class is doing great!  Parents, you have much to be proud of!

Meet Aaron!  His first day with us was Thursday.  Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Hoyt helped everyone brainstorm how we could welcome him...  well done!

Friday we welcomed our guest readers.  Thank you to Enmu, Harry and Aakriti's moms for joining us!

A luna moth cocoon arrived on Friday.  We will be studying it and watching for the moth to emerge early next week.  We will also welcome a set of caterpillars so we may witness the metamorphosizing process!

Friday was JiJi day!  JiJi turned 25!  Such fun!

It is always time to work on our social skills, to discover new interests and to take a break.  Recently we got a new kitchen!  Students have enjoyed an afternoon exploration time including kitchen play, legos, Playdoh, blocks, reading, coloring and more.  Having lots of choice is very important.

Well Wishes For Adhvik

 

While our Tuesday was terrific, it was also a little sad.  We said goodbye to our classmate and friend Adhvik today as he is moving.  Classmates offered kind sentiments and well wishes.  We can not wait to learn about Adhvik's new adventures and hope to hear from him soon.

Terrific Tuesday

 

Tuesdays really are terrific.  Ms. Kendall, our guidance counselor did a lesson on sharing and then we got to share some toys!

Mrs. Fortunato stopped in to congratulate room 103 for great work with ST Math.  Our class is one of 4 to have reached 80% in the program. .....stay tuned for our next achievement coming soon!

The class also worked hard over the break and earned praise for our efforts.  AND, kudos to Reilly who earned some JiJi swag for the time he spent with the ST Math app!

Mrs. Fortunato also lead us in a lesson with our new Math Stackers!

We continue to be grateful to have classroom volunteers.  Reilly's grandma joined us today!

Researching With Buddies

 Today we began an animal research project with our 4th grade buddies.  After exploring an assortment of non-fiction texts, students and partners picked an animal to research from a collection of animal photos that were in a bucket.  

The animal they select will now be the focus of a multi-lesson effort in which the student pairs will research and then create a presentation about.  

School really is so much fun!

Magical Monday

 

Congratulations Reilly on your latest Lexia achievements!

Our return to school after the vacation week gave us a magical Monday!  Everyone was overjoyed to see one another.  Students jumped write into work and did a great job.

Students are amazing at engaging in appropriate academic conversation.   They are turn and talk experts.

Mrs. B a retired k teacher volunteers with us.  What a thrill......our high school volunteer, Ms. Patel had Mrs. B in kindergarten!  Both were happy to reconnect!
