Let's do this!  Bring on 2022.  Let's be fearless.

Mrs. Kerr and Mrs Hoyt are going to fearlessly do what they need to do in order to give our students what they need. We are going to fearlessly continue to grow and try new ideas. We are going to continue to fearlessly share our ideas with colleagues and families. And we are going to go to school fearlessly every day (armed with my masks and sanitizer of course)!  We've got this!

  Winter Warm Up ….Time To Cozy Up With Some Good Books

When you catch your children enjoying reading, snap a photo to share. We will all enjoy the moment and it will encourage others!

 For the month of January our focus will be on enjoying books!  As a class we will make time to read each and every day!  All are encouraged to read independently too.  We will fill paper hot chocolate mugs with marshmallows both at school and at home! Each time students complete one of our reading challenges he/she will color a marshmallow!  When all 10 marshmallows in a mug are colored, the mug may be decorated and a photo of the full mug sent to Mrs. Hoyt!    We plan to read a lot and fill many mugs! We will post all the mugs together at the end of the month!

Our excitement for reading will continue as we invite parents and others to serve as guest readers in the the coming days and weeks.

Mrs. Hoyt encourages everyone to read and make time for  it every day.  To encourage daily reading, we will all take an oath:

Reader’s Oath

I promise to read 

Each day and each night. 

I know it's the key 

To growing up right.

 I'll read to myself, 

I'll read to a crowd. 

It makes no difference

If silent or loud. 

I'll read at my desk, 

At home and at school, 

On my bean bag or bed,

 By the fire or pool. 

Each book that I read 

Puts smarts in my head, 

'Cause brains grow more thoughts 

The more they are fed. 

So I take this oath 

To make reading my way 

Of feeding my brain 

What it needs every day. 

Books For Students

  As you know, we are big supporters of putting books in the hands of students to have and keep as their own.

How Many Agains?

 

Soon we are going to be working on selling our favorite books.   In order to help students prepare for this, please complete the My Favorite Book papers by January 14.  Still will bring forms home in early January

Movie and Pajama Day!

Our great morning began with a visit from Mr. Lyons.  He read the book The Reader.  Then he asked us if we have any pets or stuffed animals.  Kindergarteners in Room 103 are challenged to read to our loved ones over the break.  If grown ups are able to catch students reading, please send a photo and we will post and share them with Mr. Lyons.

Pajama Days are super cozy!  We enjoyed watching Happy Feet and part of Frozen!

Special thanks to Mrs. Kerr and the Room 103 friends who wished Mrs. Hoyt a happy birthday as she will celebrate over the break. 

 

School Is Snow Much Fun!

 

Kudos are extended to our latest certificate recipient!

What a day!  It was SNOW much fun!  We had a winter celebration.  It started out by passing our Qball michrophone ball to do the greetings.  Students enjoy using this tech resource.

Next we participated in a snowball fight.....with sight words!  

Our snowy fun continued as we balance snowflakes on our heads (1/2 pound beanbags), we comleted another mystery gift writing challenge and did a snowball toss into some containers

Mrs. Burke, Pine Glen speech specialist  joined in the fun!

After lunch we welcomed 3 guest teachers who helped us practice our coding skills.  Special thanks to Ms.  Scheffer, Mr. Donoff and Ms. Small who jumped in to make this learning adventure possible.

Following our flashlight reading time students went home with special goodie bags.  Thank you to Mrs. Burgess for her efforts to coordinate with our families to help make the day special.  Students have many treasures to enjoy over the holiday break.
