Reading Day

Students in Room 103 started the day by building blanket forts with their desks!  Everyone was so excited that we took quick photos to share our smiles! 

Once settled in we were ready for a morning of reading, dancing and fun!

Special thanks to Mrs. Castro and Mrs. Kerr who also read with us and helped us celebrate reading!  

Our reading challenge continues through the weekend.  Enjoy the snow!  It will be a great time to enjoy a few books!

Reading Day is a great time to reflect on our thoughts about reading.  Here is what our students have to say about reading:

 Mr. Kip shared a video from last week's gym class.  Everyone enjoyed the modified version of messy back yard!

We made shark hats to help us prepare for our shark/fish day celebration on Monday!

Blanket Reminder

 

A Terrific Tuesday

Our blanket sharing time is wrapping up.  We discovered this afternoon that after 12 shares and games of 20 questions, we have asked a lot of questions!  240 have been asked!

Way to go!  We have many students earning certificates in Lexia!

BHS student, Ms. Samantha was a guest at Pine Glen today.  She participated in a job shadow event.  High school students have an opportunity to explore potential career routes.  Sam spent the day shadowing our guidance counselor, Ms. Kendall.

Kudos to Room 103!  Mrs. Fortunato recognized students efforts on ST Math.  Our class spent the most amount of time using ST and completed the most amount of puzzles than any other class in Pine Glen last week.  Way to go everyone!

Following our learning about blankets, quilts and afghans we created paper quilts through a collaborative effort.  Each student made a square that was then assembled to create an entire quilt.  We created 2 quilts.  One with portraits and the other with our favorite books!

Our love for school keeps growing and growing.  We spent a few minutes learning about symmetry and tried our hand at cutting out hearts.

Math on the floor?  We needed some big places to use magnets.  So, we tipped our desks over and used the bottoms!  Such fun!

Math Stacker magnets were a great way to work on decomposing!

Congratulations to our latests Lexia super star!

In January we have learned about creatures that live in the sea.

Congratultions to Pine Glen Hoot of the week!

The Room 103 post office opened this week.

Pine Glen 2nd grade teacher, Ms. Varrell stopped in to share her knitting skills.  She showed us a Grannie square that she had make and then shared an afghan that was made when she was a baby.  

The Math Stackers we received were put to good use as we explored how to decompose numbers 6 and 7 .
