This week at school is typically full of many lasts and preparation for firsts.
We started our day with our last birthday celebration. In fact we celebrated 2 birthdays. Kawtar and Leo will have birthdays in July and we took a moment to wish them well and sing!
Our last 4th grade guest readers stopped in to share some books with us this morning also. They did a great job engaging students and they shared the reading of a couple of stories. Everyone especially loved the book about Rock, Paper, Scissors!
Having read the story of Elmer by David McKee, we felt compelled to make our own elephants. Students met up with kindergarteners from other rooms outside, shared a frozen treat and then took the Elmers on parade. It was great fun to wander through rooms. Our last stop was first grade!
For the third day in a row we visited a first grade classroom. Today we met Mrs. Wilson. We all agree that the classrooms look very similar to our own and that the teachers are very nice.
Lots of smiles and hugs today and some of our volunteers stopped in to help one last time and to say good-bye to students. Room 103 has benefited from the many parents who were able to help out. Additionally, Ms. Yu and Mrs. B. have been great classroom supporters!

This will be the last kindergarten class Mrs. Hoyt will have at Pine Glen as she has taken a new position with the School Dept. Next year Mrs. Hoyt will be working as an ESL teacher at Francis Wyman. Kindergarten teammates set her up with some Francis Wyman swap to help her fit in at her new school. Pine Glen colleagues shared lovely flowers and well wishes.
